Puppy has Repeated Bouts of Diarrhea

July 5, 2018 by thehealthy

Q.  What would you suggest for a 5 month old lab puppy with repeated bouts with diarrhea? All fecal tests have returned normal. Thanks

Kim M.

A.  Diarrhea  is not fun, for you or the puppy. A few things you can do to help relieve his diarrhea:  You can try cooked turkey and pumpkin, keep it simple.  Feed small amounts of food and have plenty of fresh water so your puppy does not get dehydrated.  Raw goat milk (2 oz. per 20 lbs.) and a kefir (1/4 cup per 25 lbs.)  There is a wonderful product by Animal Essentials called Colon Care, a liquid herbal formula that works.  I feel fresh home cooking is best, The Honest Kitchen is another product you can use, it is so gentle on the digestive system, and Animal Essentials also has a probiotic which would be helpful to add some healthy bacteria.  Once your puppy has good stool I would highly recommend to try a Raw Meat diet for your puppy.   If you live near the store I would love for you to stop in so we could talk more about helping your puppy.   I hope this helps,

Best, Diane Dewberry
